WHO WE ARE

The TAFS forum is an independent, Swiss-based forum, with international membership, dedicated to studying, reporting and making recommendations on controversial and emerging issues relating to the safety of food derived from animals.

 

Influenza

TAFS reacts with news flashes and position papers to outbreaks of avian and swine influenza.

 

Paratuberculosis

Paratuberculosis, known as Johne's Disease in the US, is a severe infectious disease of ruminants. It's impact on food safety is debated among scientists without conclusive result so far.

 

TSE

The uncertainties around prion diseases such as BSE, Scrapie, CWD and vCJD triggered the creation of TAFS and are still a topic we monitor closely.

 

Livestock Disease Atlas

Together with the World Bank, TAFS published a Livestock Disease Atlas, to bring light to the question: which disease causes how many losses in which countries?
